For those children and families living in homeless shelters, dealing with chronic diseases like asthma is doubly difficult. Now researchers from Mercy College School of Nursing are looking for ways to alleviate their symptoms.
Many elderly people have moderate or severe asthma that has been underdiagnosed or undertreated, according to a recent study by Johns Hopkins University.
Under the leadership of the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) and Schering/KEY, NASN’s primary corporate partner, the efforts of school nurses to teach students and parents about asthma and allergies are being recognized and rewarded.
