Starting over
Hello! I am considering becoming a nurse. I am looking at attending GA Perimeter College, in Atlanta GA. They have a 2yr RN program. I guess my biggest question is that my background is in Information Technology, can I use that in addition to the nursing degree to further my career in the medical field. Or would I be just wasting my time?

Thu, 01/07/2010 - 10:03pm — ginagirl34Like you, I'm considering becoming a nurse after working in the Banking field for the last nine years... This will definitely be a career change for me because I'm 42! I've found an accelerated Nursing Program at Union University in Memphis, TN that I've applied for..
I say go for it! It won't be a waste of your time at all! Also, check out this website called www.discovernursing.com and it has descriptions of every career path in nursing that you can imagine. By you having an IT background, I remember seeing career path called, I think, Nurse Informatics. I didn't click on it to see exactly what it was but it sounds as if it may deal with the technical aspect of nursing..
I wish you well!!!
