Should I do CNA before while I wait to get N2 BSN program
I am so glad I found this forum. I am a career changer. I turn 40 this year. I have an undergrad degee in marketing with a 3.54 gpa and an MBA from a school ranked in the top 20. I have more than 10 years management experience...and I am so ready to move on. I once considered nursing or pharmacy but was discourage from it long ago when I was young and naive. It has stayed in the back of my mind and now I have a opportunity to pursue it.
Ultimately I want to be a CRNA. One of the Mom's at my daughters school is a CRNA and she loves her job. For now I am applying to an ABSN program. I have put all of my eggs in that basket. I am wondering if I should apply to one of the community colleges for an ADN program. As it turns out, this particular ASBN program is faster and cheaper than the ADN programs.
My question is, if I do not get into the ASBN program this year (acceptance letters go out in Nov for Jan start), should I apply to ADN programs or should I do a CNA program quickly and try to get a job in critical care. I wonder if that would help me get into the ASBN program next year and ultimately help me get into a CRNA program. Also, if I do not get in, I want to go ahead and take the graduate level statistics that I need for a CRNA program and maybe some other class to help me get in next year. I have A's in all of my nursing pre-reqs.
Please help. Would I be waisting my time to pursue a CNA in the meantime?
