Prospective Student
Hello all
My name is Ben Guillaume I am currently working as Cardiac Critical Care nurse working at University of Pennsylvania and a graduate student at LaSalle University. While investigating the anesthesia field, I met Wallena M. Gould, CRNA, MSN, 4 years ago was immediately influenced by her enthusiasm and positive energy Lena has encouraged me to pursue a career in anesthesia. I had aspirations to succeed but never to the extent Lena encouraged. After meeting her for the first time at a school presentation, I became interested in the functions of the nurse and the anesthetist. I am now applying to several programs near my area. Being involved in Lena's Diversity Program has given me much exposure to the rigors of the program and the rewards. I have attended her Diversity Luncheon and heard from Ms Goldie Brangman, CRNA and former president of the AANA. Through her program, I have attended her workshops and had exposure to Anesthesia machines, equipment and medications which helped me understand the role CRNA. I am looking forward to upcoming Luncheon on March 21st at Rutgers University, camden, to listen to Lena, John Bing, CRNA and Frank Purcell, BS (AANA Sr Federal affairs Director). Through Lena's functionss I have been able to network with current CRNA's who are guiding and recommending me for CRNA programs. Lena performs and indispensable service for the patient, community and society. She does it all despite her busy schedule, family, children, motherhood. She contributes to solving the nursing shortage problem by influencing young nurses such as myself to go nursing continue on to a masters and doctorate degree to becoming educators and community leaders influencing future generations. I have promised Lena that I will succeed in the CRNA program and am blessed to have her a resource, mentor, and motivator.
