Mentoring the prospective nurses
Mentoring can be a significant key role player for novice nurses. As a student I was not classically mentored by a particular mentor.
I found my ways as I have always been a curious and aggressive person in my approach.
Lately I receive a lot of enquiry from candidates who are planning to pursue nursing or medicine.
I participate in high school career fair.In my last visit I realised how significant it is to mentor a prospective nurse right from the beginning.
The process should start even before they are beginning their core nursing subjects.
I have talked to the high school students emphasizing importance of taking AP courses and focusing on completing their pre-requsites before they actually start their clinical rotations.I have also talked about the right attitude and quality in a personality while one is thinking of becoming a caregiver, advocate as well as a health educator for a patient.
I would like to know from the group about their own experiences and how mentoring can change the future of nursing.
