The Nurse Manager manages the day-to-day operation, on a 24-hour basis, of the General Medical unit, which is a 37 bed unit. The patient population consists of a wide variety of medical diagnoses, including respiratory ailments, CHF, diabetes, behavioral disturbances and metabolic imbalances. The nursing staff consists of RN's and CNA's, as well as 2 Assistant Nurse Managers who provide continuing leadership and a high quality of care throughout each 24-hour period. The Nurse Manager oversees the nursing services of the General Medical department to include clinical/technical operations, staffing, human resources, compliance services, information technology infrastructure and support, strategic development and implementation for future growth. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Commitment to pursuing excellence in patient satisfaction, quality of care and staff engagement. Knowledge and application of principles of administration, supervision and management. Above average communication and human relations skills; ability to relate well with others. Commensurate with educational preparation and area of assignment, demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply age-specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet the specific needs of neonate, pediatric, adolescent and/or geriatric patients. Adequate visual and hearing ability to read and perform nursing procedures safely. Manual dexterity adequate to perform skills and procedures to assure safe patient care. Ability to lift, pull and turn a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted and over 100 pounds with assistance; bend, stretch and reach to accomplish duties.
