Howard County General Hospital, a Member of Johns Hopkins Medicine currently seeks a nurse executive for our 253 bed community hospital located in Columbia, Maryland. Howard County General Hospital is a comprehensive, acute-care medical center specializing in women`s and children`s services, surgery, cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, gerontology, psychiatry, emergency services, and community health education.
The Vice President of Nursing / Chief Nursing Officer contributes to the overall organizational strategic direction as well as ensures that the delivery of optimal quality based care is provided to all patients and their families. Additionally, the CNO partners with physician and executive peers to develop patient care programs which reflect the needs of the Howard County General Hospital community. Active participation with relevant external governing bodies, management, medical staff, and clinical leaders in the Hospital's decision-making structure is an essential responsibility for the CNO. The implementation of effective programs to measure, assess, and improve the quality of nursing care, treatment, and services delivered, while insuring that the highest level of patient safety is sought at all times is also critical to the success of the CNO.
The qualified applicant for this executive level position will possess a Master's Degree in Nursing, Hospital Administration, Business Administration, or related field, and will have current licensure to practice nursing in Maryland or licensure in a compact state that allows practice in Maryland. A minimum of 10 years acute patient care experience as an RN with progressive management responsibility and a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role including responsibility for strategic planning and implementation, managing staff and budgeting is required. Demonstrated experience in process management and process improvement is required, LEAN and/or Six Sigma is preferred. A proven track record in successfully communicating and collaborating with diverse populations is essential.
