The New York University College of Nursing announces several exciting faculty opportunities that are part of an ambitious strategic plan to more than double the College’s full-time faculty and to build a new state-of-the-art nursing facility. Educational offerings at the College include Bachelor of Science degrees, Masters’ degrees, Advanced Masters’ certificate programs and the PhD. The College boasts six endowed chairs, 12 Fellows in the American Academy of Nursing, and major centers that include the Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing, the Muriel and Virginia Pless Center for Nursing Research and the Center for Drug Use and HIV Research. In addition, the College has achieved designation as a World Health Organization Collaborating Center.
The following opportunities are available for immediate hire:
• The Mathy Mezey Professorship in Geriatric Nursing
This endowed chair honors the exceptional achievements of Dr. Mathy Mezey, the driving force in establishing the renowned geriatrics' program in the NYU College of Nursing. The successful applicant for this position will provide key leadership in expanding the College's preeminence in geriatric research and education.
Qualifications: Applicants must have an earned doctorate in nursing or a related field and be eligible for tenure. Demonstrated strength in academic leadership and a record of effective teaching, scholarship and successful external funding, as well as the ability to work in a collaborative team, are required.
• Clinical Faculty Positions (two) in the Care of Adults and Older Adults
The primary responsibilities of these positions include ongoing curriculum development and evaluation; providing leadership in the teaching of nursing care of adults and older adults in the undergraduate program; and overseeing on- campus (simulation) and off-campus clinical instruction.
Qualifications: Doctorate in nursing (preferred), minimum Master's degree in nursing (preferred in adult health/medical-surgical nursing); academic clinical and didactic teaching experience, including experience with simulation; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and the ability to work in a collaborative team.
• Clinical Faculty Position to Coordinate the Nursing Education Master's and Advanced Certificate Programs
The primary responsibilities of this position include overseeing the refinement and implementation of curricula for five Master's Nursing Education specialty courses; teaching in selected specialty courses; leading recruitment, admission and advisement of graduate Nursing Education students; coordinating placement of students in didactic, simulation and clinical practicum courses; conducting student teaching evaluations of didactic, simulation and clinical student practicum classes; and serving as a teaching mentor for junior clinical faculty and guest lecturing in undergraduate classes.
Qualifications: Doctorate in nursing (preferred), minimum Master's degree in nursing (preferred in nursing education); academic clinical and didactic teaching experience, as well as experience with the development and evaluation of simulation; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and the ability to work in a collaborative team.
