Seeking Faculty for Two Tenure-Track Positions

The West Chester University of Pennsylvania Department of Nursing seeks two (2) full-time tenure track faculty. West Chester University is seeking applicants for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Nursing faculty position. These assignments may include opportunities for teaching at off-campus sites and/or through distance learning. Faculty should be able and willing to teach using simulation methodologies. The applicant must also demonstrate continuing scholarly growth compatible with the teacher-scholar model, and contribute service to the university and/or community. Rank is dependent on qualifications with hiring contingent on funding. These full-time tenure track positions will begin in the fall of 2013.Please indicate in the cover letter which position is of interest.

Applicant must successfully complete the telephone interview process prior to an on campus interview. Finalists must successfully complete the on-campus interview and teaching demonstration.

Gerontology Position Responsibilities/Requirement/Preferences

Responsibilities for the Gerontology position:

The full-time tenure track applicant will provide clinical and didactic teaching to undergraduate level baccalaureate students and graduate students. The applicant must also demonstrate continuing scholarly growth compatible with the teacher-scholar model, and contribute service to the university and/or community. Assignment can vary depending on the need.

Requirements for Gerontology Position

1. Earned master’s degree in nursing in an advanced nursing practice specialty from a nationally accredited program. Advanced practice is defined as direct care specialization (i.e. nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, nurse anesthetist), with preference to those who practice in the area with a gerontology focus.  

2. Current clinical expertise ( within 2 years)

3. Current clinical teaching experience (within 2 years) with traditional undergraduate students.

4. Eligibility for RN licensure in Pennsylvania.

5. Evidence of matriculation and significant progress in a doctoral program of study.

Preferences for Gerontology Position: 

1. Earned doctorate.

2. Teaching experience utilizing distance education technology.

3. Experience teaching with high –fidelity simulation methodologies.
