South University presents a rare opportunity to launch and lead our newest nursing program at our Virginia Beach campus location. Build on the success of existing programs on five campus locations and online, and leave your own mark of excellence on the next generation of nurses.

The successful candidate will be a member of the faculty (rank commensurate with experience) who also holds an administrative appointment related to managing the Nursing program. Responsibilities include classroom instruction, day-to-day program operations, assisting students toward successful program completion, and staffing the classroom with instructors who support the mission of the University. This position is also co-responsible for the fiscal wellbeing of the program as it relates to education and helping to maintain/grow enrollment.

Other duties include selecting, training, developing, managing, and leading regular and adjunct faculty. The Director will also administer/grow the Nursing program; this includes responsibility for budget, strategic planning, program outcome assessment, curriculum development, student registration/advisement, community relations, and campus relations. The position will collaborate with other Program Directors on scheduling/sharing faculty, as well as form the Program Advisory Committee and arrange for faculty development opportunities.

We are seeking a professional with proven academic leadership experience in a university setting. A
PhD in Nursing, DNP or DNSc from a regionally accredited institution is required. Full-time teaching experience in a university is essential (online teaching experience is a plus). The selected candidate must be able to interpret and implement accreditation criteria and state agency regulations. The ability to resolve inquiries and complaints from employees, students, regulatory agencies, or members of the academic or business community is required. Communication skills must include the ability to effectively present information to faculty, academic and campus leaders, corporate leaders, and public groups. This individual must possess experience with computerized administrative systems, as well as proficiency using standard PC office applications. Some travel required.
