Perinatal Nursing Faculty Member
HS Clinical Series: HS Assistant Clinical Professor
(51% 12-month position; eligible for benefits)
Education:
Minimum criteria:
1. Master’s degree in nursing.
2. Substantive content expertise in the area of perinatal nursing.
3. Current nursing registration in the State of California.
Highly desirable criteria:
1. Expert in clinical and didactic teaching.
Experience:
Minimum criteria:
1. Two or more years of clinical experience in the nursing care of childbearing women, including labor and delivery with emphasis on the inpatient setting.
2. Experience in classroom teaching and organizing course(s) on the biopsychosocial concepts of normal reproductive and childbearing events.
Highly desirable criteria:
1. Two or more years of clinical experience in the nursing of childbearing women with progressive leadership and management responsibility.
2. Two or more years of clinical and classroom teaching at the undergraduate level with responsibility for course design and participation in curricular decisions.
Areas of Responsibility:
1. Supervise, teach, and evaluate students in the classroom, skills lab, clinical agencies, and community settings.
2. Plan, implement, and evaluate curriculum.
3. Coordinate inpatient clinical placements for students, including the recruitment, selection, and supervision of clinical instructors/preceptors.
4. Provide academic advisement for assigned students.
5. Coordinate and evaluate community clinical resources used by students.
Lines of Responsibility:
Dually responsible to the Chair of the Department of Family Health Care Nursing and to the Assistant Dean & Program Director of the Masters Entry Program in Nursing.
