Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist/Educator

Position Summary:
Responsible for improving patient care outcomes for a designated population of patients utilizing clinical expertise including managing a patient caseload, research, developing innovative solutions and educational resources and serving as a consultant to the health care community to ensure a comprehensive approach to high quality, cost effective care.
Qualifications:
Provides care to assigned patient population in accordance with the current State of Texas Nurse Practice Act, established protocols, multidisciplinary plan of care, and clinical area specific standards. Applicants must pass Medication Examination prior to hospital orientation. Current Parkland employees requesting reassignment to role must have current Medication Examination on file. Must be able to demonstrate an advanced level of knowledge and clinical skill in a specialty area. Must have effective written and verbal communication skills in working with a diverse population of patients, families, nurses, physicians and other healthcare providers in the community. Must be detail oriented and have excellent organizational skills. Must have planning leadership ability with demonstrated effectiveness in administering coordinated care. Must be able to develop and implement employee and patient educational materials targeted to specific needs. May be required to have research and publishing skills. Must demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.

Required Skills:
Certification/Registration/Licensure:
Must be registered as an approved Advanced Nurse Practitioner with the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners or be in the process of obtaining Board approval. Must have current registration or a valid temporary permit with the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners. May be required to have a Class C Texas Driver's license, be insurable and have access to an automobile.
Education & Experience:
Must have a Master's degree in Nursing. Must have five years of professional nursing experience in area of specialty. May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.
