The Nursing and Nutrition Department at the State University of New York, College at Plattsburgh is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Nursing Skills Laboratory Resource Manager, effective August 2014. This full-time college-year position has responsibility in the areas of teaching/learning, education/resources, scheduling and equipment management to support a positive student learning environment for achievement of program outcomes.
Teaching/Learning: Coordinates the use of laboratory facilities and resources; provides instruction to nursing students in collaboration with faculty; assists in the supervision of student skills performance; assists with all phases of data collection regarding Nursing Skills Lab (NSL) services and usage; orients and supervises students and per diem personnel assigned to the NSL; coordinates and assists in the use of simulation technology.
Education/Resources: Locates and maintains software and media; develops safety protocols and assures compliance; collaborates with faculty regarding purchases, stays current with trends and innovations in lab equipment and management.
Scheduling: Develops the lab schedule to meet faculty and student needs; maintains lab resources and reference files; collaborates with faculty regarding lab and computer based needs.
Equipment: Orders, inventories and maintains equipment; secures contract maintenance and upgrades; assures cost-productive use of lab resources; assembles and maintains lab equipment, supplies and instructional materials; submits purchase requisitions; sets up low and high-fidelity simulation skills lab scenarios and equipment.
This position requires occasional evening and weekend work.
Required Qualifications: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing; Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse, either holds or is eligible for license in the State of New York; Willingness and ability to perform occasional evening and weekend work.
Preferred Qualifications: Masters Degree in Nursing or Nursing Education and/or administrative experience and skills will be highly regarded.
