NURSING SHIFT COORDINATOR

The Contra Costa County Health Services Department is currently seeking a full-time Nursing Shift Coordinator for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center in Martinez, California.
The incumbent will coordinate and supervise hospital nursing activities on an assigned shift in the absence of administrative personnel and ensure nursing staff levels are adequate to meet patient census. Duties include scheduling relief nursing coverage for all units and for all shifts, serving as a clinical resource person and representing nursing administration in the absence of the Nursing Program Managers, implementing policies and procedures and interpreting them to staff, patients and visitors, making recommendations to improve procedures, making rounds to oversee nursing care and arranging for call-ins of medical and ancillary staff as necessary.
Minimum qualifications include a current California RN license, a BSN from an accredited college or university, BLS and ACLS certifications, and 3 years of full-time RN experience in an acute care hospital, 1 of which was in a Charge Nurse or other supervisory/leadership role. Two additional years of experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree. A background investigation/fingerprint exam will be conducted on all candidates.
