Located on Florida's beautiful Gulf Coast, Pensacola is not only the cradle of naval aviation, but also the location for Pensacola Junior College. One of the oldest junior colleges in Florida's 28 college system, PJC is in its sixth decade of service to the Florida panhandle. PJC serves some 30,000 full and part time students a year on three campuses, two centers and more than thirty off campus teaching sites. With more than 200 programs leading to certificates of proficiency, the associate of science, and the associate of arts degrees, PJC continues to be a leader in academic excellence and service to the community.

The Nursing Department is seeking applicants for the following faculty position.

NURSING INSTRUCTOR – JOB #1855 (11–month) (3 positions)

Responsible for creating a student centered, effective and positive environment for engaging students in classroom and online learning that will prepare associate degree nurses and enable registered nurses with an Associate Degree in Nursing to achieve a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Teaching and learning activities may include development of learning content, course syllabus, teaching strategies, student assessment, and course evaluation. Duties include, but are not limited to, working as a team member on college and departmental committees, developing program curriculum and accreditation reports, collaborating with clinical agencies in the community, and participating in staff development opportunities. The successful candidate will have technical knowledge to implement instructional strategies that include online case studies, computer assisted testing, clinical simulation, web-assisted instruction and web sites, and portable electronic devices, and to engage students in interactive learning activities. The nursing instructor may be required to work days, evenings, and/or weekends.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in nursing, current Florida license without restrictions in Florida or eligible for Florida licensure, American Heart BLS card, and two years current experience required. Successful results of a background check and drug screen required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer Doctorate in Nursing and previous teaching experience in a nursing program; experience in adult and/or child nursing in a variety of health care settings; experience in curriculum development and evaluation; and experience in online teaching and learning and clinical simulation.

SALARY: $44,152.00 - $50,152.00 (Salary dependent upon education and experience).
