Nursing Instructor "B" Contract (9 months), Tenure Track Position

Great Basin College is seeking a nursing instructor for a tenure track position for its Associate of Applied Science (ADN) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs. The position is available with a first report date in August, 2013. The successful candidate must perform within the areas of classroom and online instruction, clinical oversight, and practice lab oversight. A recent background in clinical nursing and previous instructional experience are desirable. Experience in distance education methods (online and interactive video) is desirable. The position will be located at the main Elko campus of GBC.
 
GBC is particularly seeking an instructor with a doctoral degree appropriate for the position. A Master’s degree, such as an MSN, will be considered, but there must be a commitment to pursue and acquire an appropriate doctoral degree within a negotiated period of time.  GBC has a grant-in-aid program for support toward achieving a further degree.
Qualifications:

• Master's degree in nursing (such as an MSN) from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited program is required by time of employment. A doctoral degree (Ph.D., DNS, or DNP) in nursing or a related field will be required within a negotiated period of time. Regular and timely progress toward the degree will be expected. Degrees must be from regionally accredited institutions.
• Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Nevada (licensure will be required to fulfill the duties of the position).
• A recent background or preparation in a clinical specialty is strongly preferred.
• Be able to work full shifts overseeing students in clinical settings.
• Be able to organize and implement multiple projects at once.
• Show evidence of ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
• Must be self-motivated.
• Demonstrate a positive, encouraging approach to dealing with students and coworkers.
• Demonstrate collegiality and flexibility in working as a team member.
• Previous instructional experience is desirable, particularly in a community college setting.
• Experience in distance education methods (online and interactive video) is desirable.
• Experience with clinical simulation is highly desirable.
• Annual Base Salary is $40,888 to $80, 399, commensurate with experience and education.
