The University of Texas Medical Branch School of Nursing invites applications for a senior faculty researcher position with graduate teaching responsibilities, opportunities for leadership, and potential for support from an endowed professorship. The successful candidate will have an ongoing bio-behavioral research program and a history of extramural funding, preferably NIH. In addition, excellence in teaching, nursing scholarship, and other documented professional and academic achievements is expected. This full-time tenure-track position is at the rank of Associate Professor or higher. The applicant`s research should promote the mission of UTMB where opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration in bio-behavioral research abound. The School’s expansive, well-equipped bio-behavioral laboratory supports scientific inquiry related to the development and clinical translation of knowledge about biological, environmental, and behavioral factors that influence human health and quality of life. In collaboration with the School’s Center for Nursing Research and Evaluation, the successful candidate will mentor faculty and students with interests in bio-behavioral research and sustain funding for his or her own research program. Qualified candidates will have an earned doctorate in nursing or a related discipline and professional certification in area of specialty practice, as appropriate. Eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in Texas is required.
UTMB provides a rich interdisciplinary environment conducive to teaching, practice, and research across Schools of Nursing, Medicine, Allied Health Sciences, and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. The School of Nursing has a state of the art laboratory for bio-behavioral research, a nursing simulation center, and other faculty resources. The UTMB campus is home to the University Hospitals and Clinics including the John Sealy Hospital, Children's Hospital, Texas Department of Criminal Justice Hospital, and the Biosafety Level 4 (BSL4) Laboratory, and the Galveston National Laboratory.
