Nursing Faculty - 10 Month Tenure Track Position - Maternal/Child and Medical/Surgical

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Full-time tenure track position in the Division of Nursing and Allied Health in Maternal/Child Health and Medical/Surgical Nursing. Candidate expected to teach and evaluate students in class, laboratory, and clinical settings throughout the Associate Degree Nursing Program. Responsibilities include participation in College activities and committees. Responsibilities may include assignment of courses in related areas, including support courses.
Full time faculty are responsible for creating a positive learning and classroom teaching environment in accordance with the college goals, core values, core competencies, program outcomes and course outcomes. The role of the full time faculty member is grounded in teaching effectiveness, departmental and institutional service, scholarly achievement, professional growth, and administrative effectiveness.
DUTIES
1. Facilitate student learning by meeting with and teaching assigned classes in accordance with the college academic calendar and approved syllabi in all areas of the Nursing Program.
2. Promote and support the value of diversity and cultural sensitivity in all aspects of learning and teaching.
3. Maintain currency in the subjects taught and recommend curricular modifications accordingly.
4. Use regular and occasional assessment data to monitor student learning and adjust teaching methods, accommodating student learning styles and helping them achieve course outcomes.
5. Maintain a working knowledge of the technology necessary for the subjects taught and for other college requirements.
6. Maintain and report timely accurate attendance and scholastic records of students.
7. Maintain licenses and certificates required for employment eligibility.
8. Participate in the process of positive counseling advisement, and retention of students.
9. Communicate and consult professionally and effectively with divisional colleagues regarding curricula, student outcomes, and other activities.
10. Post and maintain office hours for consultation with students.
11. Participate in the faculty evaluation process as defined by the Faculty Evaluation Plan, providing evidence of contributions both qualitatively and quantitatively to the college and the division.
12. Attend commencement and a reasonable number of other college functions.
13. Develop, review, and maintain the approved curricula of the division.
14. Provide input as requested into the divisional schedule and budget.
15. Participate in activities that provide service to the college community and its students, including appropriate administrative duties.
16. Contribute to and/or generate reports and supportive materials for accrediting agencies
17. Adhere to the philosophy, mission, learning outcomes and objectives, curriculum, and policies of the Division of Nursing and Allied Health
18. Maintain professional competence by participating in on-going clinical practice, continuing education, professional conferences, research, and writing relevant to faculty responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
• Masters degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
• Demonstrated expertise in Nursing
• Current valid license as a Registered Nurse. NJ Registered Nurse license required throughout employment in the position
• Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in a healthcare setting
• Excellent communication, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to the community college mission including addressing the needs of a diverse student population
• Ability to design and implement successful pedagogical strategies for students exhibiting a broad range of abilities
• Utilization of innovative teaching methods incorporating technology, including on-line resources
• Commitment and ability to utilize instructional strategies to promote student recruitment, retention, and success
• Dedication to improving college course offerings by active participation in curriculum processes, including outcomes assessment
• Commitment to campus life by participation in college sponsored activities and functions
• Proven commitment to scholarly achievement and professional growth
• Participation in community service
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED
• PhD in related area
• Clinical experience in a variety of settings
• Experience in teaching nursing students and/or healthcare professionals
• Current knowledge of associate degree nursing and teaching methodologies
• Experience in outcomes assessment and program evaluation methodologies
• Familiarity with community college education
