General Purpose:
Under the direction of the Midwifery Specialty Director, provide comprehensive primary patient clinical care and perform administrative duties for Yale School of Nursing Faculty Practice.
Position Description:
• Provide high quality full scope midwifery clinical management in the outpatient and/or inpatient settings to include gynecology, family planning, prenatal, intrapartum and postpartum care in compliance with the established Nurse-Midwifery Practice Guidelines.
• Provide accurate and thorough completion of patient billing forms.
• Comply with HIPPA with regard to all patient information.
• Participate in 24-hour, seven days per week on call coverage for labor and birth and other patient needs for the midwifery faculty practice.
• Adhere to all Yale New Haven Hospital policies and procedures with respect to on-call and inpatient care activities.
• Provide clinical instruction and supervision to nurse-midwifery students in the primary care of women throughout the life cycle.
• Maintain accurate and thorough patient records, practice records/statistics and contribute to reports as needed.
• Participate in quality assurance activities designed to ensure high quality patient care practices within the service.
• Serve on committees and attend meetings as needed to represent and support the service.
• Participate in peer review.
• Participate in various functions and oversight of the general practice operation, as needed.
• Participate in patient education and community outreach activities, as needed.
Qualifications:
• One year experience in nurse-midwifery practice and a Master’s Degree in Nursing or other acceptable related area.
• Current certification by the American College of Nurse-Midwives.
• Successful completion of ACNM approved midwifery education program. Current RN and Midwifery Licensure by the State of Connecticut.
• Current Federal DEA licensure and Connecticut state controlled substance certification.
