Division Descriptions: Heart CenterResponsibilities: The Cardiac Surgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA) provides inpatient and outpatient clinical expertise to patients and their families. The NP / PA is an expert in the pre and postoperative management of cardiothoracic surgery patients and participates in the medical and surgical management of this population across the spectrum of care. Responsibilities include acute and subacute clinical care, research and program development, professional practice development, and education.Requirements:-- Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in care of cardiovascular surgery patients as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner preferred.-- Endoscopic vessel harvesting experience preferred.-- Requires BMQA and National Board of Medical Examiners Certificate and graduation from an approved Physicians Assistant program or a Current California NP license and furnishing license.-- Current California R.N. license. CPR/ACLS certification required.-- Completion of hospital Medication Exam and I.V. Therapy Exam.-- Completion of hospital Moderate Sedation Certification.
Special Requirements:-- Must hear well enough to obtain history, see well enough to make appropriate observations and be able to communicate thoroughly with patients, families, and colleagues. -- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, nights, and weekends as required.-- This position is subject to a criminal background investigation.
