Job Description:
Western Governors University — the nation's only competency-based, accredited, online nonprofit university — is a great place to work. The university is an innovative leader in distance higher education, receiving numerous accolades from educators and business. WGU currently offers bachelors and master's degree programs in education, business, information technology, health professions and nursing.
The university is experiencing tremendous growth adding new positions monthly and is seeking an outstanding National Clinical Coordinator based in Salt Lake City Utah.
WGU headquarters is located in Salt Lake City, Utah at the foot of the beautiful Wasatch Mountains, the site of the 2002 Winter Olympics! While Utah is an outdoor person’s dream with alpine forests in the north and the red rock canyons in the south, it also boosts a world class symphony, theater, opera, and ballet, in addition to professional basketball, football and soccer.
Western Governors University looks for leaders with a strong commitment to the mission of the university. It also actively engages in recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce and student body that include members of historically underrepresented groups.
WGU is seeking a National Clinical Coordinator to manage the clinical component of a new BSN program. The Clinical Placement Coordinator is the primary contact for clinical placements for the students and liaises with institutions, organizations, agencies and individuals with whom students will have clinical experiences.
Responsibilities will include: developing and maintaining an extensive and ever-changing network of contacts in order to keep abreast of placement opportunities throughout the country; coordinating clinical placements; adapting online clinical scheduling system for a national program, and teaching in simulated learning environments when opportunities arise. IF you are interested in becoming a part of transforming clinical nursing education for baccalaureate nursing, this is a singular opportunity, especially for an individual who has been an educational leader in an acute care hospital.
This position is based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in nursing required.
- Recent hospital experience as the manager of staff development or comparable experience managing large educational programs
- Five to seven years of professional experience and/or clinical practice
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with integrated technology systems and tools
- Experience with simulation technology is preferred
- Travel up to 40% of your time is required
To become a candidate for this position, submit curriculum vitae to: employment@wgu.edu. Specify "National Clinical Coordinator" in the e-mail subject line.
