Our Kansas City practice has an immediate opportunity for a Histology Supervisor.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Biological/Physical sciences;
  • (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) required;
  • Must be flexible, dependable, work well under pressure, and have a positive attitude;
  • The hours are Mon - Fri from 6 am - 2:30 pm, however, must be willing to work any shifts and perform all duties of a histotechnician or histotechnologist when required;
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in an acute care hospital of more than 200 beds, or a reference laboratory is preferred; and
  • At least one year of relevant work experience as a senior technician or histology supervisor within the past 5 years is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the daily histology workflow for multiple shifts and serving as the primary resource person for all shifts;
  • Actively assesses work processes and makes recommendations for quality and efficiency improvements;
  • Monitors and maintains supplies
  • Makes recommendations for reducing costs and making capital acquisitions;
  • Communicates department problems or matters that need attention to the appropriate personnel and assists in providing possible solutions;
  • Assures that all government and professional rules and regulations are not only met but also exceeded;
  • Documents and completes all special projects in a timely manner;
  • Maintains working knowledge of all areas (embedding, microtomy, staining, coverslipping, slide triage, immunochemistry, special stains) so as to perform bench work as needed to support the department; and
  • Promotes positive morale and a team player attitude.
