The School of Nursing at the University of Connecticut invites applications for an Executive Assistant I position. This individual will serve as the Assistant to the Dean. Under the general direction of the Dean of the School of Nursing, with moderate authority for decision making, this individual will manage the administrative services and operations of the School of Nursing. The Executive Assistant will be responsible for advising the Dean on a wide range of administrative and business matters related to the programs of the School; performing office management duties and directing workflow between departments; arranging meetings and seminars; administering school searches; representing the Dean in the oversight of entrepreneurial activities; supervising the maintenance of administrative records and acting as a liaison with Human Resources/Labor Relations on personnel issues; serving as an authoritative source of information for the school; making recommendations for fiscal, budgetary, and administrative processes; preparing and analyzing administrative reports; managing the Dean’s schedule; representing the Dean to a variety of University offices and outside agencies; and other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business or related discipline or in the area to be served; three to five years experience and proven ability in budget, personnel and administrative management involving leadership or general business management; demonstrated ability to resolve administrative and personnel problems; good interpersonal skills; ability to effectively work with faculty, staff, students and other University administrators; excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to effectively prioritize and work with minimal supervision and maintain complete confidentiality; evidence of skills involving teamwork and collaboration; strong computer skills including experience with Kuali Financial Systems, Webfocus reporting, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and PeopleSoft; willingness to work flexible and irregular hours as needed.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree; five to seven years of experience in an executive assistant level position; experience in a role involving leadership or management in a senior academic administrator office; knowledge of University policy, procedures, and resources; and experience and success working with diverse populations.
Appointment Terms: This is a full-time, twelve-month, permanent position. Salary is commensurate with experience.
