John Tyler Community College is seeking qualified individuals who are experienced, visionary professionals who enjoy working in a community college medical environment to fill a Director of Nursing and nine-month Nursing Faculty positions.
The Director of Nursing position is a full-time, twelve-month administrative faculty position responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the nursing program; providing evaluation and supervision of full-and-part-time nursing faculty; providing academic advising; overseeing courses and curricula; etc. The Director of Nursing requires a Master’s degree in nursing; eligibility for licensure in VA; and a current, active, unrestricted license to practice as RN. Significant experience in nursing education and program leadership, preferably at the Associate Degree level; demonstrate a strong commitment to associate degree nursing education and academic progression in nursing; demonstrated ability to provide leadership in instruction, curriculum development, and student and faculty evaluation are all required. Exceptional leadership skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills are also required. Knowledge of ACEN standards and the VA Board of Nursing regulations is expected.
The Nursing Faculty position is a full-time, nine-month teaching position available for the Fall 2014 semester to teach a variety of courses equivalent of 15 credit hours per semester, provide clinical supervision, student advising, course development, etc. Multiple positions may be filled from the posting depending on budget availability. The Nursing Faculty requires a Master’s Degree in Nursing by the start date. Recent nursing experience; excellent oral and written communications skills; ability to teach a combination of day, evening, weekend, hybrid, and/or online classes; and flexible to work at any of the College’s locations are also required.
