The Adelphi University Health Service Center’s mission is to provide access to quality health care and promote wellness to Adelphi's diverse student population. We seek trained, experienced licensed Nurse Practitioners on a Per Diem basis to provide episodic and urgent care under the direction of the Director of Health Services.
The Nurse Practitioner will provide high quality health care services and treatment, communicating with patients concerning their diagnosis and treatment, and advise about preventive measures. In this hands-on role, the candidate will be responsible for continuity of care, medical entries; information for transfers to another health care provider; and assessment of real or potential health hazards and current health status, including behavior related to lifestyle and culture. This position requires a caring, sensitive professional with sound clinical judgment who can implement plans of care; prescribe, dispense, and administer medical therapeutics, corrective measures and controlled substances in schedule II, III, IV, or V. The Nurse Practitioner will assist individuals to assume responsibility for their health, and the prevention of illness; and will consult, refer, and collaborate with others for the delivery of total patient care. This position involves utilizing the resources of the University community and the surrounding community area, promoting collegial relationships with other clinical staff and providers in the community, while serving as a resource and a role model for students.
The ideal candidate should have a graduate or baccalaureate degree in a BSN program from an accredited school of nursing, plus an M.S. degree in Advanced Practice Nursing from an accredited university. The candidate must also have an active, current New York State license as an RN and NP; a National certification as a FNP or ANP from AANP or ANCC; a minimum of 3 years in an advanced practice role; and CPR/AED certification. Excellent communication skills, basic computer skills and the ability to demonstrate evidence of clinical professional growth by involvement in continuing education are required. Multiple per diem positions available for coverage- Monday-Friday 8am-7pm.
