Job Description:

Florida Southern College (FSC), a nationally ranked, private, liberal arts college located in Lakeland, Florida, seeks candidates for the Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. This position will report to the Provost for Academic Affairs. The successful candidate will be responsible for administration of the undergraduate program, including the generic BSN, BSN degree completion, the Master’s Program and the degree program in Athletics Training. The Dean promotes and sustains an environment of academic excellence and scholarship while providing leadership for the School of Nursing and Health Sciences.

Qualifications include: doctorate in nursing (preferred) or related field; candidate must have documented history of nursing program administration and leadership, BSN and MSN curriculum development, program assessment, BSN and MSN program accreditation and budgeting; excellent administrative and communication skills; eligibility for professional nurse licensure in the state of Florida; familiarity with the role of technology and information literacy in nursing education. Active involvement in nursing and related professional organizations. History of grant funding procurement for Nursing program support and expansion. Must be able to support and promote the mission of the College.

Responsibilities: Leadership and innovative visioning for the School of Nursing and Health Sciences; coordinating all aspects of the College's nursing program including meeting State Board of Nursing requirements, accreditation requirements, hiring and evaluating nursing faculty; facilitate and grow collaboration between local health care organizations and the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Florida Southern College; promotes the recruitment and retention of students, faculty and staff; oversight and management for the School of Nursing and Health Sciences resources and the supervision of grant writing in cooperation with the College’s Advancement Office; and works in a system of shared governance nursing faculty, serves as liaison between nursing faculty, academic council and the College President.
