HolyFamilyUniversity invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the School of Nursing and Allied Health Professions.
The Dean is the Chief Academic and Administrative Officer of the School of Nursing and Allied Health Professions and reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA). As the University looks towards future growth, the Dean will lead the strategic planning process building on the mission of Holy Family to provide students with higher education opportunities firmly planted in the philosophy of the Value of Family. The successful candidate will work closely with the Associate Dean, faculty and staff to strengthen the academic rigor of the nursing programs, recruit, mentor and retain faculty, ensure compliance of all programs with accrediting bodies which includes the Collegiate Commission on Nursing Education (CCNE) and the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). In keeping pace with the increased demand for nurses, the University will launch the most affordable second degree BSN program in the Philadelphia area. The inaugural class begins January 2015 and will enter a full-time, 14-month program designed for a person with a bachelor’s degree who would like to change careers and enter nursing. The new Dean will have the opportunity to develop additional programs including global educational initiatives through increasing quality study abroad programs. In addition, the new Dean is responsible for securing resources, the application of all academic policies and fiscal and operational matters.
Successful applicants must hold a Doctorate in Nursing or a related discipline, a Master’s Degree in Nursing and possess an outstanding record as an accomplished educator. It is preferred that the new Dean have at least 5 years of experience in academic administration including supervising faculty in prior leadership positions such as Associate / Assistant Dean, or Chair of a Department. Successful candidates will possess evidence of leadership as demonstrated by experience with strategic planning, hiring and management of faculty and staff, budgeting and academic policies. Applicants should possess a transparent administrative style that fosters respect and a team spirit among faculty and staff, and an ability to articulate a vision for the School.
