Georgia Perimeter College,the third largest institution of the University System of Georgia, seeks a visionary and well-qualified nurse educator who will provide exceptional leadership for its Division of Health Sciences. The review of applications begins immediately.
The Dean of Health Sciences has oversight for the Nursing and Dental Hygiene departments and the Allied Health Programs at the college. An advocate for the Department Chairs and faculty, the Dean reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
The Dean works with the Health Sciences Department Chairs and faculty to maintain high academic standards in the course offerings. Other responsibilities include evaluating the Department Chairs, and overseeing of their evaluations of faculty.
In coordination with the Department Chairs and faculty in the Health Sciences Division, the Dean is responsible for managing resources and for overseeing the budget of all departments. In addition to serving as the liaison between GPC and external organizations, the Dean collaborates with the College’s Grants and Sponsored programs, Institutional Advancement, and community initiatives to obtain external funding.
Qualified candidates will have a doctorate from an accredited college or university in a health science, science, or higher education field, and a minimum of five years of full-time, progressively responsible administrative experience in a health field or in higher education. Candidates must be SACS qualified to teach in the Nursing program at the college, which is a minimum of 18 semester or 27 quarter graduate hours in Nursing.
Experience in college or university setting with knowledge of assessment and external professional accreditation is preferred.

The Dean travels between campuses to perform required duties, attend meetings, and fulfill other responsibilities. The Dean also must have the ability to receive detailed information from others through oral communication and to interact with people in person, on the phone, by e-mail, and in writing. Some work in the evenings and on weekends is required.
