Position Description: Complex Care of Children and Families - Tenure Track Faculty Member
Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor Rank*
Education:
Minimum criteria:
1. Doctoral degree in nursing or related field.
2. Strong foundation in biological, social, or behavioral sciences.
3. Graduate level education and training in nursing related to complex care of children and/or families; complex care may include the continuum of acute, chronic, and home care.
Highly desirable criteria:
1. Postdoctoral training in research related to complex care of families.
2. Educational training in curriculum development or teaching/learning theory.
Experience:
Minimum criteria:
1. Two years clinical experience.
2. Clinical or didactic teaching experience.
3. Experience with diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
4. Research experience related specifically to chronic illness or more broadly to health care of families.
Highly desirable criteria:
1. Prior administrative experience with academic program development.
2. A program of research involving health and illness within a family context, documented by presentations and publications.
3. Recognized competency in research as a principal investigator.
4. Potential for leadership, as demonstrated by participation in state or national forums and organizations.
5. Clinical and classroom teaching experience at the graduate level.
6. Recent clinical or research experience in a collaborative practice setting.
Areas of Responsibility:
1. Engage in clinical and translational research projects.
2. Teach, advise, and mentor master’s and doctoral nursing students.
3. Provide guidance and supervision for students in developing their research skills, projects, master’s theses or comprehensive examinations, and doctoral dissertations.
4. Develop and enhance collaborative relationships within the School of Nursing and with other health professionals at UCSF and in the community (local, state, national, and international).
5. Participate in supporting School of Nursing and University activities, including appointments to faculty committees.
6. Disseminate knowledge through publications and participation in and presentations at professional meetings.
7. Function or develop the capacity to serve as an expert consultant to others in local, national, and international communities.
8. Participate in community services and related activities.
Lines of Responsibility:
Responsible to the Chair, Department of Family Health Care Nursing.
