The School of Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte seeks energetic individuals motivated to make a difference

The School of Nursing (SON) is seeking a practice oriented individual at the Assistant/Associate Professor level for 9-month appointments. Minimum qualifications include eligi-bility to obtain a license to practice nursing in North Carolina, a doctorate in nursing practice (DNP), nursing, or related field from a regionally accredited institution; advanced prac-tice certified; and actively practicing as an advanced practice nurse. Candidates planning to graduate in May of 2010 will be considered for assistant professor positions. The SON of-fers a variety of career enhancement strategies. The School of Nursing (http://nursing.uncc.edu/) serves over 530 students in its undergraduate and graduate programs, including the BSN, RN to BSN, and MSN. These programs are supported by a group of 35 enthusiastic full time faculty, including two distinguished professorships.

A successful candidate must have a developing or on-going program of scholarship. The School of Nursing focus areas include vulnerable populations and broad areas of symptom management. Desirable characteristics include experience in mentoring students, the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse faculty and student body, and expertise in areas in the MSN programs (e.g., Family Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Anes-thesia, Nurse Administrator, and Community Public Health). We welcome candidates with other desirable characteristics, such as teaching experience in DNP programs; online educa-tion experience; knowledge, practice, or scholarship in health disparities; and leadership in professional organizations.

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte (www.uncc.edu), the state’s fourth largest university, is a rapidly growing research intensive institution located in one of the New South’s most beautiful cities with a population over 2 million in its metropolitan region. UNC Charlotte has nearly 25,000 students enrolled in undergraduate, masters, and doctoral pro-grams in seven academic colleges. Both the number of students and academic pro-grams, especially at the doctoral level, are expected to increase significantly in the near future.
