About Our Organization
The MGH Institute of Health Professions is an academic affiliate of the world-renowned Massachusetts General Hospital, offering post-baccalaureate programs in Clinical Investigation, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Nursing, and Physical Therapy and Medical Imaging. The Institute is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The School of Nursing is approved by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing and the masters program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc.
Department Overview
The School of Nursing offers a curriculum leading to a Master of Science in Nursing for both non-nurse and registered nurse college graduates and a Certificate of Advanced Study for Post-Masters students. A Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and an accelerated baccalaureate degree are being instituted during 2007-2008. Masters level specialty concentrations are available in adult, family, gerontological nursing, pediatrics, acute care, psych/mental health and women’s health.
Job Description
The School of Nursing at the MGH Institute of Health Professions seeks applications from dynamic, energetic experienced nurse clinicians (experience in both acute and non-acute clinical settings in the areas of pediatric and maternity nursing, medical surgical nursing, community health and psychiatric-mental health nursing sought) to join the faculty of the MGH Institute of Health Professions as clinical instructors.
Responsibilities will include serving as a resource with other clinical colleagues in building the curriculum for a baccalaureate degree in nursing, coordinating clinical experiences and/or faculty in one or two of the clinical areas mentioned above, facilitating development of clinical sites for clinical experience requirements, advising students, and working as a member of the nursing faculty. Clinical teaching assignments will be based on program need and candidate interest and experience. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in Institute level faculty meetings.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have an MS in nursing with evidence of recent clinical experience in any of the clinical settings mentioned above and excellent interpersonal skills. Baccalaureate prepared clinicians will be considered with excellent clinical experience. Prior clinical teaching experience preferred.
