Applications are being accepted for one full-time, non-tenure-track position at the level of Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor in Community Health Nursing at the Towson University campus at the University System of Maryland’s regional center located in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Position:A January 27, 2014 start date is highly preferred. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Responsibilities:Primary responsibilities include high-quality teaching in clinical and classroom settings and academic advising for the undergraduate nursing program. Maintaining clinical excellence through a range of scholarly activities related to the position, and service to the University and community are also position responsibilities.
Qualifications:The successful candidate is expected to possess a high level of clinical expertise, strong commitment to excellence in teaching and advising, and demonstrate a productive or potential for a productive scholarship program. A Master’s degree in nursing with expertise in Community Health Nursing is required. Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in Maryland is required. Three years of recent experience in practice related to Community Health Nursing, as well as experience in clinical teaching in nursing are required. Demonstrated success in working with diverse populations is preferred. Candidates who wish to be considered for the Clinical Associate Professor rank must meet all Towson University requirements for this role.
The Department:The Department of Nursing is a CCNE accredited program with approximately 400 undergraduate students. In addition, the department offers a Master’s program with a concentration in nursing education and a post-Baccalaureate certificate in nursing education. The Master’s program has over 100 students enrolled. The Department’s faculty is engaged in a number of collaborative program offerings on and off-campus and support the innovative use of technology and program formats. The Department of Nursing operates a component of the nursing program at the University System of Maryland’s Regional Center in Hagerstown. This regional system center offers undergraduate and graduate programs from the respective universities within the Maryland system. Towson University Department of Nursing offers its undergraduate and graduate nursing programs in a state-of-the-art facility, in downtown Hagerstown.
