The Missouri State University College of Health & Human Services Department of Physician Assistant Studies anticipates a January 1, 2013 opening for a full-time faculty at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, non-tenure track. The master’s level program was recently reaccredited for seven years. This reflects a high level of support from the university and community and attests to the quality of faculty and students. The program accepts 30 students annually into its 24-month program.
As a member of the core faculty, responsibilities will include teaching, student advising, and service to the university, college and Department. The primary duty of this position will be to coordinate the clinical phase of education. The successful candidate must be committed to working with diverse students and community populations. Release time for clinical practice is available.
The successful candidate must be a physician assistant (PA) or nurse practitioner (NP) with at least five years of clinical experience. The PA candidate must be certified by The National Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), have a master’s degree in PA studies or related field. NCCPA certification and eligibility for, or licensure as a PA in the state of Missouri is also required. The NP candidate must be board certified by a national certifying body in their specialty, licensed in the state of Missouri as a registered nurse, and have a document of recognition issued by the Missouri State Board of Nursing as a NP.
Missouri State University is located in Springfield, Missouri which lies in the Missouri Ozarks. The area offers four distinct seasons and many recreational activities including, boating, fishing and hunting.
