Methodist Charlton Medical Center has retained Tyler & Company for an exciting search for a Chief Nursing Officer in Dallas, Texas.

Methodist Charlton Medical Center, located in suburban southwest Dallas, is a non-profit, 300-bed modern teaching and community hospital that has served far southwest Dallas County since 1975. Today, Methodist Charlton employs 1,344 FTEs, operates 307-beds and has 238 physicians and 18 residents on staff. In the fall of 2009, Methodist Charlton opened a new 72-bed patient tower; a $116 Million expansion project and investment in the community. Methodist Charlton provides a variety of clinical services including cancer treatment, cardiology, emergency care, gastroenterology, general surgery, intensive care, neurology, nephrology, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, pulmonology, and radiology.

The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) will report to the President of Methodist Charlton Medical Center with a dual reporting relationship to the Senior Vice President/CNO for Methodist Health System. The CNO will serve as part of the senior management team, and will focus on patient-centered care that provides for the total well being of the patient, including the mind, body and spirit of each individual. In addition, the CNO will be accountable for planning, budgeting and oversight of patient care delivery, will lead three direct reports and provide direction to approximately 500 FTEs. The CNO will provide direction in the development of processes and systems that move Methodist Charlton toward strongly improved patient satisfaction scores, participate in and support hospital-wide performance improvement initiatives, and lead performance improvement and quality management initiatives across the department of nursing.

The chosen candidate will be have five to 10 years of CNO experience in a similar sized facility or as the number two nurse executive in a larger hospital or healthcare system. The selected candidate will have successfully developed patient flow and throughput programs, and a demonstrated track record of improving patient and customer satisfaction scores. The chosen candidate will be a strong mentor with the ability to recruit, select and develop future talent, and will be an advocate for the nursing staff and have the ability to proactively identify and successfully implement solutions to nursing issues. The preferred candidate will have experience leading a large ED, OB, and/or critical care departments. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; Master of Science in Nursing or Health Administration preferred; Current Texas nursing license is required; or must be eligible to transfer current nursing license from another state. It is preferred that the candidate live in the service area.
