WellStar Health System (“WHS”) is seeking a Chief Nursing Officer for the system’s WellStar Cobb Hospital in Austell, Georgia.
WHS is a not-for-profit, community-based healthcare organization whose primary service area includes the Bartow, Cherokee, Cobb, Douglas and Paulding counties of Georgia. WHS has a history of strong financial performance and is budgeting for a net operating margin of 3.2% for FY09 and a total margin of 4.6%. The WellStar team includes approximately 9,700 FTEs, making it one of the largest employers in the Atlanta-metro area.
WellStar Cobb Hospital, a 382 bed hospital, offers inpatient clinical services including surgery, medical, neurology, cardiology, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatrics, ophthalmology, rehabilitation medicine, orthopedics, otolaryngology, psychiatry, urology and hospice. The hospital offers a variety of outpatient services and clinics, including prenatal care, infectious disease, psychology, cardiac catheterization, nuclear medicine, occupational medicine, chemotherapy, respiratory therapy, IV therapy, electroencephalography, enterstomal therapy, neonatology, anesthesia, radiology, pathology, magnetic resonance imaging, computerized tomography (CT) scanning, ultrasound, clinical laboratory, pharmacy, emergency and trauma services, cardiac rehabilitation, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, gastroenterology, and cystoscopy. WellStar Cobb Hospital recently expanded its surgical services with a $12.5 million expansion as well as the addition of a new CT scanner. It is currently expanding its emergency room, laboratory and behavioral health facilities.
Reporting to the Vice President and Administrator of WellStar Cobb Hospital, the Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for the ongoing leadership for the department. This includes strategic planning, integration of patient services practices, policies, and procedures. The Chief Nursing Officer will collaborate with other system leadership and medical staff within the organization to achieve the organization’s goals and objectives.
The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree; however, a Masters degree in nursing, business, or healthcare administration from an accredited school is preferred as well as national certification in nursing administration. A track record of five (5) years of successful nursing management experience in a fast-paced, growing, and competitive market is essential. It is highly desirable that the ideal candidate have experience and a high degree of comfort working within a system environment.
