Chairperson, Accelerated BSN Program
(75% Administration; 25% Teaching)
The accelerated BSN (ABSN) Chairperson is the academic leader responsible for the management of administrative, curricular, and student/faculty issues of the program on all campuses. The chair maintains standards for professional accreditation, university policy, and plans and manages the budget. He/she collaborates with other administrators to sustain strategic planning goals and priorities consistent with University values and mission. He/she models appropriate ethical and professional behaviors, as well as expert communication skills.
Curriculum & Instruction
Manages the ABSN curriculum and instructional programs at all sites at which the program is delivered. Collaborates with Student Services and faculty on recruitment, marketing, admissions, orientation, scheduling, grievance procedures, advising, retention, financial aid, special services, awards, and graduation processes for the ABSN program. In collaboration with site managers and clinical coordinators, oversees submission of course schedules and faculty assignments for the ABSN program at each site. Collaborates with the clinical coordinators in the development, monitoring, and evaluation of clinical agency contracts and arrangements for student clinical experiences that pertain to the ABSN. Responsible for ABSN curricular integrity at all sites to assure compliance with California BRN and CCNE standards.
Identifies and mentors ABSN faculty’s orientation and professional development needs. Conducts or provides input for the evaluation of the ABSN faculty, site managers, and clinical coordinators. Assists in the supervision and evaluation of the administrative assistant(s) for ABSN programs. Assists in identifying new program opportunities for nursing and develops proposals for their development and implementation.
Financial and Resource Management
Provides information to the Associate Dean for Prelicensure Programs for macro and micro budget planning for the ABSN program and remote sites. Oversees the management of the budget items that pertain to the ABSN programs at all sites.
Reports and Documentation
Prepares accreditation and other relevant reports for the ABSN programs. Identifies, develops, and manages opportunities for the ABSN programs for grants and sponsored programs. Represents the ABSN program, the School, and the University at relevant external conferences, workshops, and meetings.
