Essential Functions of Position:
Commencing August 19, 2010, a full-time tenure-track faculty position will be available in the Associate Degree Nursing Program. Responsibilities include teaching nursing theory (medical-surgical) and instructing students in the Allied Health and Nursing Laboratory and the clinical area; participation in planning and scheduling; assisting in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation; participation in faculty meetings, assistance with State accreditation reports and visits. In addition to any nursing specialties, experience is required in acute-care, medical-surgical nursing with desired experience in maternal child care and/or pediatrics. Other responsibilities include participation in the governance of the college via committee assignments, maintenance of office hours sufficient to met student needs and college policy and full participation in departmental responsibilities. Involvement in activities designed to improve teaching and particularly the application of technology in the instructional process will be expected. Weekend and evening clinical instruction will be required.

Minimum Qualifications: The candidate must meet one of these criteria:
1. Possession of a Master's Degree in nursing from an accredited institution; OR
2. A combination of education and other accomplishments that is equivalent to the above. (If claiming equivalency, attach a separate statement which presents the basis for this claim and submit supporting evidence, e.g., transcripts, publications, other work products.); OR
3. Possession of a lifetime California Community College Instructor's Credential in nursing AND a Master's degree.
AND, in addition to criteria met above,
4. At least one year's experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care.
5. Completion of at least one year's experience teaching courses related to nursing or a course which includes practice in teaching nursing.
6. Must possess current licensure in California as a Registered Nurse AND must meet Board of Registered Nursing criteria as content expert in medical-surgical nursing.

Desirable Qualifications:
• Teaching experience in an Associate Degree Nursing Program.
• Current knowledge and clinical skills in acute care medical-surgical.
• Current knowledge and clinical skills in maternal child nursing is desirable).
• Familiarity with instruction using nursing modules and objective clinical evaluation.
• Demonstrated experience with development and implementation of student learning outcomes and utilization of results for improvement of student learning.
• Demonstrated experience with using technology and multi-media in delivery of instruction and interaction with students.
• Demonstrated experience with utilization of strategies, techniques and methods that enhance student learning and success and respond to diverse learning styles.
• Experience working with students from diverse cultural, ethnic, socioeconomic, academic, and disability backgrounds.

Salary & Personnel Benefits:
The current salary schedule range for a tenure-track faculty position is $53,668-$89,668, plus an earned doctoral bonus of $2,683. Starting salary is commensurate with academic preparation and experience. In addition to salary each full-time employee participates in a "cafeteria style" Health & Welfare Benefits Program.
