Associate Dean for Faculty Scholarship/Director, Department of Graduate Studies in Nursing
Company: Lewis University Under the general supervision of the Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Professions, the Associate Dean for Faculty Scholarship/Director of Graduate Studies in Nursing assumes administrative leadership, oversight, and coordination of the college's graduate programs. Master's level programs are accredited by CCNE through 2021, and the doctor of nursing practice program will apply for initial accreditation in 2013. Primary responsibilities include promoting the advancement of faculty scholarship and directing activities within the graduate programs related to curriculum, faculty and student policies, recruitment, program planning and evaluation.
Responsibilities: -Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of the University's Mission along with the Catholic and Lasallian higher education. -Share in providing broad collaborative leadership and intellectual vision for advancing faculty scholarly growth and productivity. -Collaborate with Dean to engage in strategic planning and implementation to effectively meet the goals of the graduate programs. -Participate in fiscal planning and monitoring for the CONHP. -Provide effective leadership in enrollment management within area of responsibility. -Maintain records and provide reports which support effective enrollment and fiscal management. -Provide overall direction for the graduate programs. -Collaborate with Dean, Directors, Coordinator of NP Track, Coordinator of DNP Program, faculty, and other University departments in identifying, securing, managing, and maintaining resources needed to facilitate achievement of the needs and desired student outcomes of the graduate programs. -Collaborate with Coordinator of NP Track, Coordinator of DNP Program, and Lead Faculty in scheduling courses. -Collaborate with Dean and CONHP leadership in assigning faculty course responsibilities. -Direct curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation within graduate programs in collaboration with lead Faculty, Coordinator of DNP Program, Coordinator of NP Track, graduate faculty. -Collaborate with Lead Faculty, Coordinator of DNP Program, and Coordinator of NP Track in providing to the Dean an analysis of teaching effectiveness of faculty teaching in the graduate programs. -Collaborate with Dean and CONHP leadership in the recruitment and orientation of new graduate faculty. -Oversee maintenance and update graduate catalogue. -Oversee consistent implementation of student admission, progression and dismissal policies in the graduate program. -Oversee the design, implementation and evaluation of student academic advisement and retention in the graduate program. -Coordinate admissions, including transcript evaluations, of new students to the graduate programs. -Collaborate in the development, approval process, and implementation of certificates awarded by the CONHP. -Collaborate with Institutional Advancement in grant application and management. -Direct the graduate assistantship application process; collaborate with the Dean on appointments and assignments; and supervise and evaluate GA work assignments. -Implement the policies, procedures, and regulations of the University and College within area of responsibility. Collaborate with the College of Business in the administration of the MSN/MBA program. -Participate in selected College and University committees as assigned. -Participate in venues designed to present information about CONHP graduate programs. -Participate in the development of recruitment of marketing materials for the graduate programs. -Other duties as assigned by the Dean.
Earned doctorate in nursing or related field; a master's degree in nursing; licensure as a registered nurse in Illinois or eligibility with application in process; five years of nursing experience; two years of teaching experience at the graduate level; a service and scholarly record commensurate with the rank of associate or full professor. Position will allow person to guide innovative graduate (MSN) and doctor of nursing practice (DNP) programs that prepare nurse leaders, educators, and practitioners.
