The University Of Alabama School Of Nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) invites applications and nominations for the position of Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and Partnerships. Qualified applicants will hold a doctorate in nursing or a health related field and have significant experience in establishing and sustaining community and clinical partnerships, clinical relationships, and show evidence of successful administrative experience in academia and health care agencies as well as a sustaining record of extramural funding. Applicants should qualify for tenure with appointment at the rank of Professor.
The University of Alabama School of Nursing, through its progressive academic nursing leadership, focuses on the integration of clinical research, practice and education. Based at the state’s flagship Academic Health Science campus, the School of Nursing actively collaborates with other academic units and health care systems, such as the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Public Health, Optometry, Health Professions, the UAB Health System, Children’s Hospital, Birmingham’s Veterans Hospital, The Comprehensive Cancer Center and community-based health centers throughout Alabama and the South. As a top-tier academic health center, UAB offers significant opportunities through its interdisciplinary research centers for AIDS, Aging, Minority Health, Diabetes, Health Outcomes and others. The School of Nursing, ranked 26th in US News and World Report, is designated as a World Health Organization Collaborating Center, and offers baccalaureate, post baccalaureate, masters, post-masters, and doctoral level programs.
The Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and Partnerships provides leadership for the achievement of the clinical service and partnership mission of the School of Nursing and its articulation with the UAB Health System, Children’s Hospital, the VA Health System and other clinical partners in hospital and community based settings. In this role the Associate Dean is responsible for providing leadership for clinical affairs, faculty practice and professional development, facilitating and building the School’s overall clinical service programs; collaborating with the Dean and other Associate Deans in order to integrate the School’s three missions of teaching, research and service; providing consultation; developing faculty to achieve service and scholarship goals; and engaging in his/her own programs of funded service and scholarship.
