Applications are being accepted for one full-time, tenure-track position at the level of associate/assistant professor in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing or non-tenure-track position at the level of clinical assistant/associate professor in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing at the Towson University campus at the University System of Maryland’s regional center located in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Qualifications - Tenure-Track Assistant/Associate Professor Candidate
The successful candidate is expected to possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and advising and demonstrate potential for a productive research/scholarship program eligible for external funding. Responsibilities include classroom and clinical teaching with undergraduate and graduate students, academic advising, engaging in scholarly activities and service to the University and the community.

Applicants are required to have research doctoral degree in nursing or a related field and master’s degree in nursing with expertise in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing. Licensure or eligibility for licensure in Maryland is required. Two years of recent experience in teaching and/or in practice related to Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing and evidence of scholarly achievement are preferred. Candidates who wish to be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor must meet all requirements for promotion to associate professor rank at Towson University. Applicants who are ABD may be considered, but appointment will be at the instructor rank. All degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2014.

Qualifications - Non-Tenure Track Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor Candidate
The successful candidate is expected to possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and advising and demonstrate potential for a productive scholarship program. This is a one-year renewable position that includes both clinical and classroom teaching and academic advising for the undergraduate nursing program. Engaging in scholarly activities related to the position and University and community service will be a part of the successful candidate’s responsibilities.
A master’s degree in nursing with expertise in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing is required. Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in Maryland is required. Two years of recent experience in teaching and/or practice related to Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing are required. Candidates who wish to be considered for the Clinical Associate Professor rank must meet all Towson University requirements for this role.

The Department
The Department of Nursing is a CCNE accredited program with approximately 350 undergraduate students. In addition, the department offers a master’s program with a concentration in nursing education and a post-baccalaureate certificate in nursing education. The master’s program has over 100 students enrolled. The Department’s faculty is engaged in a number of collaborative program offerings on and off-campus and support the innovative use of technology and program formats. The Department of Nursing operates a component of the nursing program at the University System of Maryland’s Regional Center in Hagerstown. This regional system center offers undergraduate and graduate programs from the respective universities within the Maryland system. Towson University Department of Nursing offers its undergraduate and graduate nursing programs in a state-of-the-art facility, in downtown Hagerstown.
