Assistant Professor, Nursing - Anticipated Openings (Two)

The School of Nursing and Health Studies, in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Northern Illinois University, invites applications for two anticipated tenure-track faculty positions at the assistant professor level in its nursing program to begin August 2013.

 

The nursing program offers a B.S. in Nursing through pre-licensure and degree-completion programs, and an M.S. in Nursing with specializations in Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult Nurse Practitioner, Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist, and Nurse Educator. The program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

 

 

The successful candidate will have a doctorate, preferably a Ph.D., EdD, or DNP in nursing science or a closely related area (applicants who are ABD will be considered), an M.S. in Nursing, and current Registered Nurse licensure.

 

For one position, candidates should have an educational and experiential background in medical-surgical nursing and/or community health nursing. For this position, preference will be given to candidates who have expertise in the use of human patient simulation in nursing education.

 

For the second position, candidates should have an educational and experiential background in medical-surgical nursing and/or community health nursing and/or maternal/child nursing. For this position, preference will be given to candidates who are Advanced Practice Nurses.

 

Both positions will involve graduate and undergraduate teaching, which may include online course delivery and travel to off-campus locations, as well as research, university and professional service, and student advising.

 

 

Relevant professional work experience is desirable.
