The College, founded in 1967, is an accredited, associate degree-granting institution of higher education serving Delaware and Chester counties. It is the seventh largest post-secondary institution in undergraduate enrollment in the Greater Philadelphia region, serving nearly 27,000 credit and non-credit students annually with a comprehensive array of programs, including computer-based and distance-learning classes.

 

The College's mission is to offer educational programs and services that are accessible, comprehensive, community-centered, and flexible in order to enhance the development of the communities and residents of its service area. Its competency-based curriculum certifies DCCC graduates as possessing the skills, attitudes, and values needed to perform competently in their area of study.

 

Additional responsibilities include but not limited to teaching a full load of courses (15 cr/semester), including didactic and as needed a clinical/simulation lab or externship component; utilize advanced technology to enhance student learning; use classroom assessment techniques and creative teaching strategies that actively engage students in the learning process; follow an approved course of study with measurable objectives; participate effectively in the program/course assessment process; collaborate with faculty members in revisions/updates to courses and course materials; offer required office hours that meet student needs; advise students, as assigned, to develop sound academic/career plans; Evaluate student performance and achievement of outcomes; participate in department activities including faculty meetings, curriculum development and evaluation, and annual report and accreditation activities; participate in the Colleges Advisory System and serve on college committees; serve on “Ad Hoc” committees as appropriate; represent the College/department in community events.

 

The ideal candidate must have a Master’s degree in Allied Health or Nursing related field; Candidates should have at least 2 years recent experience teaching at the college-level; A strong background in health care is required; Candidates should have both a strong background in and the desire to teach established Allied Health curricular courses; Candidates should be an excellent instructor more committed to teaching than to research, who is familiar with curriculum development, competency-based education, alternative learning styles, classroom technologies, and distance learning; In addition, the applicant should be willing to take part in active service to the department, the division, and the college, and must be committed to academic excellence, diversity, and a spirit of collaboration.
