Nursing: Faculty position. The Department of Physiological Nursing (DPN) announces a national search for a tenure track faculty position in the Critical Care/Trauma specialty. Open until filled. The appointment will be at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank, depending upon the finalist’s level of scholarship and experience. The DPN is one of four academic departments in the School of Nursing and offers master’s and doctoral preparation with areas of study in gerontology/geriatrics, cardiovascular, critical care/trauma, acute care, and oncology.
Qualifications: Minimum Criteria – Education: Doctoral degree in nursing or related field with experience in teaching and research in critical care; clinical experience as a critical care or emergency/trauma nurse. Licensed or eligible for RN licensure in California.
Qualifications: Preferred Criteria – 1. Two or more years of clinical experience as a critical care/emergency/trauma nurse. 2. Educator with a strong foundation in biological and/or social/behavioral science, experience teaching graduate students, and expertise in critical care and/or emergency/trauma. 3. Prepared through experience, teaching, research, or community service to contribute to the School of Nursing’s commitment to diversity and excellence. 4. Research experience as a principal investigator and/or extensive experience on funded projects documented by publications and other modes of disseminating research findings. 5. Publications and research experience are in areas related to critical care or emergency/trauma.
Areas of Responsibility: 1. Teach and advise masters (Critical Care Specialty) and doctoral nursing students. 2. Engage in ongoing program of research that is critical care/emergency/trauma focused and includes student mentorship. 3. Contribute to department leadership in the area of critical care. 4. Participate as a faculty member in activities of the Department of Physiological Nursing, School of Nursing and the University of California, San Francisco, including committee appointments. 5. Engage in professional activities at a local, state, regional, and national level. 6. Disseminate knowledge in critical care and related areas through publications as well as participating and presenting at interdisciplinary and scientific meetings.
