Minority Nurse Announces 4th Annual Scholarship ProgramThis year's deadline has been extended to July 1, 2003. Apply today! Financial assistance to help racial and ethnic minority nursing students fulfill their professional education goals is critically needed at all levels, from students in associate degree and diploma programs to PhD candidates. But many nursing educators agree that it is the BSN degree that opens the most doors of opportunity for students of color-doors to better jobs, graduate study and careers in research, academia, advanced practice and health care management. That's why Minority Nurse created an annual scholarship program designed specifically to help our student readers complete their studies leading to a baccalaureate degree. This year, the magazine will again award four scholarships - two $1,000 awards and two $500 awards-to minority students who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the nursing profession. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence, financial need and a demonstrated commitment of service to the student's minority community. The Minority Nurse Magazine Scholarships are open to racial and ethnic minority students who in fall 2003 will be enrolled in the third or fourth year of an accredited BSN program in the United States or an accelerated program leading to a BSN degree (such as RN-to-BSN or BA-to-BSN). For a complete list of eligibility criteria, see the application form on the next page. The recipients, who will be announced in the fall 2003 issue of Minority
Nurse, will be selected by the magazine's editor and members of
its editorial advisory board. The board includes professors, deans,
nurse consultants and other leaders within the minority nursing community. Apply Today! Deadline:
