Fall Must-Haves: Reading, Resources and Recruitment Tools
This is the time of year when consumer magazines are full of photo spreads showcasing everything from the coolest college dorm accessories and the new fall fashions to previews of the sleekest new 2007 cars. But what about nurses who want to know what resources are available to help them provide culturally sensitive care to diverse patient populations, or to help recruit the next generation of minority nurses? With this in mind, Minority Nurse is pleased to present our own version of that venerable standby, the Fall Shopping Guide.

Why are these nurses from Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia smiling? Because, as members of the Fox Chase nursing department’s new Council for Diversity Recruitment, they are playing a key role in helping to recruit and retain a diverse, inclusive and culturally sensitive nursing staff. Formed in May, the council will meet four to six times a year. (L-R in photo): Mickey Mullin, Wandaris Ortiz, Connie Sumner, Voleida Webb, Michael Kvint and Maria Gonzalez
