Instructor/Assistant Professor – Associate Degree in Nursing/Accelerated BSN Program
Medical-Surgical Nursing Skills Lab Coordinator Term Position

Mount St. Mary’s College, Los Angeles, CA

Mount St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles is seeking a full-time term Instructor/Assistant Professor to teach Gerontology in the Associate Degree in Nursing Program at the Doheny campus.

Mount St. Mary’s College is a Catholic Liberal Arts college primarily for women.  Founded in 1929 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in the Catholic intellectual tradition, the Mount is an institution dedicated to providing an excellent education directed towards service.  The college’s various graduate and undergraduate programs are located on two campuses, one in downtown Los Angeles and the other in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles.  The college prides itself on maintaining a highly diverse student body, small classes and a close working relationship between students and faculty.

Nursing Program:  The Associate Degree Nursing and Accelerated Bachelor Degree Nursing Programs are located on the Doheny Campus.  We are looking for Registered Nurses with a Master’s Degree to join our faculty in educating and preparing California’s future nurses.  We encourage applications from members of all ethnic groups to create a work environment that reflects the diversity of our students.

Qualifications:  Registered Nurse with a current and active California license; a Masters of Nursing or higher degree; at least one year continuous, full-time experience in direct patient care practice as a registered nurse within the last 5 years in area of specialty; one year teaching experience preferred; a working knowledge of the Roy Adaptation Model preferred; be eligible for approval by the BRN;  computer technology competency preferred.  

Responsibilities: The successful applicant will provide didactic content and clinical skill instruction in area of Medical-Surgical Nursing, facilitate learning, use, and maintenance of simulation mannequins (SIM MAN), coordinate skill lab usage, assist with student remediation of specific skills, and collaborate with faculty to develop nursing scenarios to enhance student critical thinking skills.  Applicants will be expected to participate actively in developing and implementing the nursing curriculum through committee work within the department and in the college community.
