Dean, School of NursingNorthern Arizona University, Flagstaff, AZNorthern Arizona University, a national research institution located in Flagstaff, seeks a dynamic and seasoned nurse educator to serve as the next Dean of the School of Nursing, which is part of the newly configured College of Health and Human Services at Northern Arizona University (NAU). NAU is a recognized leader in the development of outstanding nursing professionals across the state of Arizona, with a particular expertise in training nurses to work with rural patient populations. Building on recent successes and increased state funding, the School of Nursing at NAU now seeks a new Dean to lead and support them in the development of a long-range vision for the School to help them meet the demands of a highly competitive health care arena. In addition to her or his visionary leadership experience, the new Dean should bring a proven capacity to work closely with faculty, staff and administrators in the development and enhancement of a strong operational and academic infrastructure for the School’s Bachelor and Masters level programs that helps the faculty and staff to bring its collective vision to reality. Critical to the success of a new operational and academic infrastructure will be the immediate recruitment of several new faculty members. The new Dean will report to and work closely with the new Executive Dean of the College of Health and Human Services. Together they will work with other health profession program leaders in the development of an overall vision for the College in general, and its programs specifically. Essential qualifications for the new Dean include experience in an academic leadership role, overseeing and managing a large-scale Bachelor and a Masters level nursing education program delivered in both a traditional classroom setting as well as through on-line and satellite campus programs; a track record as a nursing educator grounded in evidence-based practice; successful managerial experience focused on development of an empowering and inclusive organizational culture; and a clear commitment to diversity as a critical component of a healthy and vibrant learning community. A doctoral degree is also required.
