 Assistant ProfessorUniversity of California, Irvine, Program of Nursing Science, College of Health Sciences, Irvine, CAThe Program in Nursing Science at the University of California, Irvine College of Health Sciences seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level beginning January 1, 2008. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the Community-based Health Care component of the undergraduate education curriculum as well as establishing a program of research related to this focus. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for development of a summer elective for UC Irvine undergraduate nursing students that will provide students with an in-depth educational experience focusing on Latino health care in a medically underserved community. The successful candidate will help ensure a consistent approach to integration of culturally competent/culturally relevant health care throughout the nursing curriculum to prepare students for clinical placements in medically underserved community settings It is expected that all qualified candidates will be doctorally prepared (i.e., PhD, DNSc, DNP, EdD), have a demonstrated record of excellence in conducting research in nursing science or a related health sciences field or a beginning researcher with a strong potential for development of a program of research, have relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals, have recent teaching experience in nursing education, have clinical expertise in the area of related interest, and will lead an independent research program in the area of his or her expertise. Candidates should possess excellent oral and written communication skills, hold a current license, or be eligible for licensure, as a registered nurse in the State of California, and qualify to meet the State of California, Board of Registered Nursing standards related to clinical instructor status. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
