The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Nursing, Little Rock, AR

College setting: The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Nursing, a CCNE accredited institution, provides baccalaureate, master’s, and PhD programs to over 500 students. The College has faculty practice programs in pediatrics, primary care, women’s health, gerontology, and genetics. The faculty are national and regional leaders and their achievements include presidents of Sigma Theta Tau International, the Southern Nursing Research Society, and the Southern Regional Education Board Council of Collegiate Education in Nursing.The College has a Hartford Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence and a National Institute of Nursing Research Tailored Biobehavioral Interventions Research Center. The College ranked 26th in National Institutes of Health research funding in 2005. Research focus areas include cardiovascular, sleep, gerontology, forensic nursing, and cancer.

Located in Arkansas’s only academic health science center, with world-class clinical facilities and the Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy, Public Health, and Health Related Professions, and a Graduate School, the College of Nursing has partnerships with magnet clinical centers in aging, cancer, neuroscience, high-risk maternity, and ophthalmology; Arkansas Children’s Hospital; eight Area Health Education Centers; Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System; and seven regional Aging Centers.

GRADUATE
Master of Nursing Science (MNSc) Degree Program

Family Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Specialty Coordinator

This clinical or tenure position assumes responsibility for all aspects of this specialty, including, but not limited to, admission, advising program of study, development, and teaching within the specialty.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s in nursing; doctoral degree in nursing or related field

  • Certification as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner

  • Experience teaching at the graduate level

  • Recent active experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN)

  • Established research program desirable

Nursing Administration Faculty

This clinical or tenure track position will assume teaching responsibilities in the Nursing Administration Specialty within the Master of Nursing Science degree program.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in nursing; doctoral degree in nursing or related field
  • Experience teaching at the graduate level
  • Recent related nursing administration experience; nursing administration certification desirable
  • Established research program desirable

Family Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Faculty
     
This clinical or tenure track position will assume teaching responsibilities in the Family Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s in nursing; doctoral degree in nursing or related field
  • Certification as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner
  • Experience teaching at the graduate level
  • Recent active experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN)
  • Established research program desirable

Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (PhD) Degree Program

PhD Faculty

This tenure track faculty position will assume teaching responsibilities within the Doctor of Philosophy of Nursing program, work within own established extramural research program, enhance current research initiatives, and provide P20 Center support.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in nursing; doctoral degree in nursing or related field
  • Experience teaching at the graduate level in a doctoral program
  • Evidence of an established research program
  • Experience serving on/or chairing dissertation committees
