ASU College of Nursing & Healthcare Innovation is on the move! The nationally/internationally recognized Center for the Advancement of Evidence-based Practice is part of a new bold strategic plan centering on the development of innovative evidence-based strategies for improving healthcare outcomes, cutting-edge educational programs, and pioneering research to test effective strategies to improve quality of healthcare for culturally diverse, high-risk populations. The ASU College of Nursing & Healthcare Innovation is the state’s largest producer of nurses with Bachelor of Science & Master’s degrees, and newly established Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice degrees.
Under the guidance of Dean Bernadette Melnyk and Director Ellen Fineout-Overholt, the Center for the Advancement of Evidence-based Practice (CAEP) has been involved in advancing EBP across the United States and the globe. These national and global initiatives are part of President Dr. Michael Crow’s New American University. The CAEP has the privilege of working with several healthcare systems and colleges throughout the state of Arizona and internationally to advance healthcare outcomes. Arizona State University is one of the premier metropolitan research universities in the nation and enrolls more than 63,000 students on four campuses in metropolitan Phoenix. With more than 325 days of annual sunshine, the area has many year-round cultural activities.
As a result of the tremendous increase in initiatives generated from the CAEP, we are launching a national search for an Associate Director, Center for the Advancement of Evidence-based Practice. Consider joining a seasoned team of evidence-based clinicians, educators and researchers who are committed to optimizing health across a variety of clinical settings and building the healthiest university in America.
The Associate Director of the Center for the Advancement of Evidence-based Practice will work with the Director to implement and expand the infrastructure needed to meet the needs of the community, the region, the nation and across the globe in advancing EBP. The Associate Director will assist the Director of the CAEP in developing entrepreneurial innovations to advance EBP implementation. Key responsibilities include: a) designing creative strategies to conduct existing local, national and international EBP programs, and b) with the CAEP team, creatively developing additional innovative products to advance EBP.
In addition to teaching and scholarship activities, the Associate Director to the CAEP will work with: faculty to advance clinical track scholarship; clinicians to implement EBP at the point of care; and researchers in translating research into practice. The Associate Director will assist the CAEP Director in obtaining resources, sustained productivity and financial solvency of the CAEP, as well as expand consulting services within Arizona and maintain close working partnerships with the community.
Applicants must have a PhD in Nursing, eligibility for Arizona nurse licensure; teaching and clinical experience appropriate to rank. Preferred qualifications include: an established background in clinical application of evidence as well as evaluation of evidence implementation; demonstrated strong leadership and management skills in clinical practice; demonstrated health care outcome evaluation and project management; demonstrated expertise in successful entrepreneurial initiatives and partnership development; and demonstrated experience in successfully funding EBP implementation projects.
